School Results and Performance Tables

Gainsborough Data: 2 YEAR TREND: 2017 & 2018

Link to DFE Performance tables

These tables show the outcomes and results for end of key-stages and phonic screening for Gainsborough compared to the National outcomes and results for academic year 2017 and 18.

End of Reception

We are consistently above National figures for children working at and above the expected standard. This shows outstanding progress from our children’s starting points. Our school has been asked to be a feature school in an early years development programme called ‘From Good to Excellent’.

*Good level of development is where children reach the expected standard (early learning goals) within Prime learning areas (communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional development) as well as literacy and mathematics.
Staff have worked hard all year to make a difference for the children. We have consolidated our successful work on the characteristics of effective learning and how they impact on pupil learning; and been looking at outside learning. Two of our teachers have spoken at Nursery World conferences to share the excellent outcomes from our work. As we focus on greater depth of learning across the school, there is much we can utilise from these pieces of work in other year groups.

Phonics Screening

  2018 2017
Year 1 National Gainsborough National Gainsborough
Met the Standard 61.5% 88% 81.3% 74.9%
Working towards 17.4% 12% 18.7% 19.1%

Phonics are the foundations of learning to read and we follow a systematic approach with children learning at their own ability. We have ensured our children are making excellent progress and increased our figures by 13% in 2018 from 2107.

In the last 5 years we have consistently achieved above National figures for our children meeting the standard within the phonics screening, with a small decrease in 2017. In 2017 the mobility of the pupils in Y1 (leavers and joiners) was at 39.6%

  2018 2017
Year 2 National Gainsborough National Gainsborough
Met the Standard 61.5% 63.4% 61.6% 54.5%
Working towards 38.5% 35.7% 38.4% 27.3%

Our phonics re-take data for year 2 children is above national. There has been effective targeting of children and a real understanding of what they need to support not just their ability to know, use and blend phonemes, but of the development of all children as real readers.

A progress score of 0 means pupils in this school on average do about as well at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally. Higher than 0 means pupils in this school on average do better at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.

We are pleased to report the EXCELLENT PROGRESS our pupils have achieved and the high percentages at or above the nationally expected levels. We are extremely proud of the hard work and fantastic achievement of our pupils, and of course this would not have been possible without the support and commitment of our staff, parents and carers.

Our progress data show us to be significantly above National. Staff worked hard to really accelerate the learning for the children. The teachers successfully managed the social and emotional aspects for the children and prepared them well.

All our reportable data clearly shows the good and better levels of attainment and progress achieved by our pupils; we are either broadly in line with, or significantly above National levels for both.
