Gainsborough Curriculum Intent

At Gainsborough Primary School, we believe every child should be happy, resilient individuals who have the skills, knowledge, and experiences to become positive members of their community.

From life skills, experiences beyond their community and self-regulatory techniques, we believe our children will gain the capabilities and experiences needed to flourish in society.

We believe that every child is recognised as a unique individual and we deliver a curriculum centred in equity for all. We have high aspirations for all of our children and prioritise every child making great progress from their individual starting points.

Careful design of our curriculum ensures that vocabulary, core knowledge and skills are learnt. We build long-term memory through revisiting key concepts to deepen their understanding. Our curriculum prioritises basic skills that will equip our children to be lifelong learners.

Through clear planning, lessons are sequential, and skills and knowledge are progressive. This enables our children to link their previous learning to their current and future learning, building schemas and achievement over time.

For more information about our curriculum please speak to your child's teacher or the deputy headteacher. Please also look on the newsletter each fortnight to see what the children have been learning.
